UFC 108 was supposed to be headlined by Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort but Silva will not be completely recovered from elbow surgery.

The winner of the fight between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira against Cain Velasquez will determine the fighter to face the winner of the Lesnar vs Carwin fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Cain Velasquez is the new rising star in the UFC heavyweight division. He is undefeated and sports a 7 – 0 fight record, 6 of them by way of knock out. Not an easy fight for Nogueira.

Also Rashad Evans will make a comeback to the Octagon after his participation as a coach of the TUF 10 reality TV show featuring Kimbo Slice. He’s coming out of a loss against Lyoto Machida at UFC 98 – Evans vs. Machida, and he’s going to face Thiago Silva, who’s coming out of a victory against Keith Jardine at UFC 102 – Couture vs. Nogueira. Both fighter sports a loss against Lyoto Machida on their record.

UFC 108 looks to be a strong card with fighters like Gabriel Gonzaga, Junior dos Santos, Tyson Griffin, Sean Sherk, and Joe Lauzon competing on the under card. It’s also a hell of a nice way to celebrate the new year.
