Randy Couture Autographed Mixed Martial Arts Memorabilia – Signed sport Items: Gloves – Pictures – Posters and Programs
Randy Couture started his career in the old days of the UFC and is still performing today at a high level of competition.
He is scheduled to face Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 102: Couture vs. Nogueira on August 29, 2009.
Prior to his UFC career, he was a Greco-Roman wrestler and former collegiate wrestler. Couture has been an Olympic wrestler alternate and won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1991 in Havana.
He entered MMA competition at the rather advanced age of 36 year old at UFC 13: Ultimate Force in the tournament format, winning the heavyweight tournament at his first presence in the octagon on May 30, 1997.
Right after this tournament, Randy Couture faced Vitor Belfort in an elimination bout for the heavyweight title. He won the bout via TKO in the first round and gained a title fight against Maurice Smith at UFC Japan: Ultimate Japan on December 21, 1997.
Right after the event he was stripped of the title when he could not come to contractual terms with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
He returned to the UFC at UFC 28: High Stakes after a four year intermezzo in Japan from 1998 to 2000, to Win the heavyweight title against Kevin Randleman. He defended his title twice against Pedro Rizzo before losing two consecutive fights versus Josh Barnett and Ricco Rodriguez.
The Natural decided to move down a weight class to fight at 205 lbs in the light heavyweight division. Couture won his first fight against Chuck Liddell and the interim UFC light heavyweight title and became the only UFC contender to hold titles in two weight categories. He became the undisputed UFC light heavyweight champion at age 40 against Tito Ortiz by unanimous decision.
After losing a second time by knockout to Chuck Liddell, Couture retired from fighting. Consecutive a full year of retirement Randy made a victorious comeback against the giant Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 68 on March 3, 2007, making him the first fighter in UFC history to become a three-time champion.
Following a fight against Gabriel Gonzaga, Couture resigned from the UFC for obscure reasons. ($$$)
Over a year of controversy with the UFC management plus some B level movie shooting, Randy “The Natural” Couture accepted to make another comeback in the UFC octagon to defend his heavyweight title against the rising star Brock Lesnar at UFC 91.
