Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter | Number 6 Trash Talk MMA Fight

Tito Ortiz & Ken Shamrock start a quarrel at a press conference after UFC 48, right after Shamrock got the win against Kimo. Shamrock had a rematch clause in his contract for the first fight because he knew he had a torn acl going into the bout. The rematch clause was to fight Ortiz again, but Ortiz kept turning down the fight which exasperated Shamrock a lot.

Tito Ortiz & Ken Shamrock Confrontation after UFC 48

Ken Shamrock only had 3 fights prior to the Tito Ortiz II fight. A victory against Kimo Leopoldo and two losses, one against Rich Franklin at The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale and a second one against Kazushi Sakuraba at Pride 30.

He finally managed to get the rematch against Ortiz at UFC 61: Bitter Rivals, but the fight was stopped too early by the referee Herb Dean. Shamrock and the crowd were outraged at the early stoppage, and Dana White straightaway put together a rematch on telly.

That’s the trash talk promo for UFC 61: Bitter Rivals. Shamrock’s as funny as usual: “I dislike his character! I dislike him very much! So much that I wanna get in the ring and punch a hole in his head”!

The third and final fight was aired for free on Spike TV and Franck Shamrock didn’t punch a hole in Ortiz’s head or anywhere else. He got TKOed in round 1 at the 2:23 mark.

Immediately, after the fight, Ortiz celebrated his triumph with a taunting “grave digger” routine and an offensive t-shirt that said: “Punishing Him Into Retirement” after flipping him off. Ken was released from his UFC contract as of June 2007. The Ortiz/Shamrock drama was over!
