The Heart Rate Monitor is made to fully control your heart rate level at any time.
There is much different shape of Heart Rate Monitor on the market, but the most frequent one is the watch with the transmitter belt that you must wear around your chest.
Depending of your goal, you can use it to loose weight or to work out your cardio. I just got mine this week, and it’s brilliant. It’s really easy to use.
You have to wet the sensor with water or conducting gel to ensure good contact, then attach the belt around the chest and position it bellow the pectoral muscle with one of the sensors under the heart and the other under the right pectoral muscle, and you’re all set. Of course don’t forget to put the watch on.
To optimize your physical preparation, you must know your maximum heart rate expressed in beats per minute. The FCmax can be estimated by the following formula: FCmax=220-your age. If you’re 40 YO, 220-40=180.
Depending of your workout, several training zones will give specific results corresponding to different aims: weight control, aerobic zone, speed training.
i.e.; I’m 47 yo (I know I’m old) so to loose weight my upper limit target zone is 140 bpm and my lower limit is 130 bpm.
I’m using it all the time now when I’m working out with Kettlebells, in RPM classes or elliptic. To achieve good results you must train, non stop, for a minimum of 55 minutes. Have fun
