This dude is soo underrated. His transitions are sick, he’s really one of the most naturally gifted fighters of all time.
Also, nothing wrong with being a doctor either. You gotta remember that back in the old days, MMA did not exactly pay well (honestly, it still doesn’t). If you didn’t have a plan B you were SOL.

Carlos’ fight with Matt Hughes was a complete robbery. He was dominating the fight and later in the fight he caught Hughes in a triangle. Hughes Picked him up and drove him into the fence and then slammed in almost Rampage Power bomb like slam but Hughes himself was knocked out also. Granted, he was not completely out but he certainly didn’t know where he was, In fact, his corner had to tell him he had won the fight. It should have been a NO CONTEST, a la Gray Maynard vs Rob Emerson.

he should go down as one of the best because this guy is a true martial artist unlike most. he shows the beauty of mma. everything he does is just beautiful technique. thats what a true martial artist is suppose to be like

i didn’t say he couldn’t make those choices but he never made those choices. If he was going to do something else than do those things. It was more like he was lost and distracted than dedicated elsewhere, because here he is right back trying to salvage his career at 33.

its too bad Carlos couldn’t keep fighting his priority. After his win versus pat miletich when he was champ he was asked by a canadian newspaper what he was going ot do next and he said he was trying to get in to medical school! I mean damn dude he could have been one of the best all time if you ask me, but than he started coming in overweight and he never left Toronto to train in a major fight camp. Too bad he had so much natural talent.
Carlos is one of the sickest grapplers in all of mma history and one of the most over looked fighters as well. He deserves more respect.
