51w57lmlqql_ss500_Bruce Lee is by far the Martial Art Artist that every MMA fighter admires. There’s not a single fighter that does not mention Bruce Lee as being the reference, their number 1 inspiration that leads them to perform in MMA.

Bruce Lee, the legend of martial arts and karate movies, first studied Wing Chun Kung Fu in Hong Kong under Yip Man. When he came to the United States, Bruce Lee developed a concept of martial arts for the individual man that he labeled Jeet Kune Do – the way of the intercepting fist.

Actually, he’s the first and real creator of MMA. He was the first to mix different form of martial art into one, to create the most lethal and complete form of fighting. He never competed and never worked on ground fighting, but he is the father of Mixed Martial Arts.

His first book, The Tao of Jeet Kune Do, became a standard in the martial arts field. It was followed by Bruce Lee s Fighting Method a series of four volumes complied by Lee s friend and student M. Uyehara.

This DVD covers the first two volumes of Lee s fighting method Basic Training and Self-Defense Techniques. Topics include warm-ups, basic exercises, on-guard positions, footwork, power training, speed training and self-defense techniques. Demonstrating the techniques in this DVD presentation are Ted Wong and Richard Bustillo.

Wong trained with Lee toward the later stages of Jeet Kune Do s development, becoming Lee s last major private student. He appeared with Lee in the photo techniques of the Bruce Lee s Fighting Method books and is considered to be Lee s protégé, being one of four to receive direct certification from Lee.

After Lee s death, Wong chose not to teach Jeet Kune Do publicly, instead establishing a semiprivate, nonprofit school in San Francisco in 1990.
