UFC 81: Breaking Point, the next Ultimate Fighting Championship event will witness the coming of Brock Lesnar to the octagon. After only one fight against a no-name in a K1 ring, Brock Lesnar’s first fight in the UFC versus a former UFC champion might be a little too soon.

Brock Lesnar is not the typical pro-wrestler freak show hired to entertain kids and sell tickets, well… not only. He’s an NCAA wrestling champion and despite his long years of pro-wrestling he looks in really good shape and seems dedicated to the sport of MMA.

Starting his career in the UFC with such a fight and facing so much expectation, Brock Lesnar is in a must win situation. An embarrassing defeat will make him and the UFC look really bad and all the critics will jump in the bandwagon calling him a can, comparing him to the likes of Bob Sapp or Kimbo Slice.

Dana White must have strong confidence in Lesnar to risk his credibility like that. It would have been wiser for the UFC and Brock Lesnar to start with a couple of easy fights before facing serious opposition. No one knows, including him, if he can take a punch or not.

On the other hand, Frank Mir has never been the same since his bike accident. His last fights were not really convincing and he never got back to the level he had before that damn crash. Even if everyone expects an easy win from Mir, this fight is actually closer than it looks on paper.

I can’t wait to see it and find out at last if Brock Lesnar is for real or if he’s just a joke, a serious competitor or a commercial move to get the pro-wrestling audience and money. I personally hope for a great fight. A questionable decision victory will put the UFC in an embarrassing situation. Not something Dana white can afford after the Couture drama and his failure in signing Fedor…
