Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Mixed Martial Arts – Gracie Jiu-Jitsu the Starting Style Of MMA
BJJ or the science of joint manipulation and constriction of the windpipe and of the carotid artery.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the most renowned and less impressive style of fighting involved in MMA. Introduced and popularized by Royce Gracie at the first UFCs, it became the symbol and basic style of Mixed Martial Arts.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship was Taylor made by Helio Gracie to promote the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also called Gracie Jiu-Jiutsu, a family made version of the Japanese Jiu-Jiutsu, a grappling type of martial art.
Lots of people are debating that the choice of poor adversaries at the first 4 UFC were picked out to make Royce Gracie looks good in order to sell BJJ to the world and fill their seminars and schools all around the country.
It was also rumored that the choice of Royce Gracie, the smallest of the fighting family member, was made to increase the dominant aspect of the BJJ, matching him against huge and unskilled monsters to impress people.
For uneducated viewer, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is often considered as “gay”. Some of the most frequent comments aside “it’s boring” are:
• “Is this supposed to be painful?”
• “Is this fake?”
• “What are they trying to do?”…
People can only relate to the things they know. That’s why streetfighters are popular, everybody had a brawl in their youth. It’s the same for sports like baseball, basketball, etc. But BJJ!!!
The public was booing at every Royce Gracie fights until they were told that it was a outstanding style of fighting…

BJJ is also referred as the style where the fighter has to get a beating until he can sneak in a submission move. The Antonio Nogueira Vs. Bob Sapp fight is the most famous example of that.
As a matter of fact, this is the Nogueira trademark. Except for a few fights, all of his other battles are following the same pattern. He’s getting whooped until a submission move comes from nowhere to win a fight he was losing badly.
Watch out the famous battle where Nogueira is taking an unbelievable amount of punishment until the magic armbar finishes the torture. Truthfully he was dominating the second round, but the first round in Pride Championship lasted 10 minutes back then…

The famous guard and half guard, armbar, kneebar, kimura, hand stand sweep, double ankle sweep, ankle lock, guillotine choke, lapel choke, the rubber guard, etc. Plus of course all the escape to those techniques.
Possible Damages:
• Dislocated arms
• Dislocated knees
