For the first time, The Arnold Sports Festival will host an opening amateur MMA show on Friday, March 5 at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.

Local Mixed Martial Arts matchmaker Troy Speakman, and co-promoter Bob Lorimer, will present an amateur MMA event that will hold 20 fights, with competitors from Columbus and around Ohio. The Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Festival will be licence by the Ohio Boxing Commission.

“We are excited to announce this top-level amateur mixed martial arts series that will be held throughout the year in Columbus,” Lorimer said. “The Amateur MMA Festival series will provide top class amateur fighters from around the Midwest the opportunity advance to fight on the card for our March event, which will provide unparalleled exposure for amateur mixed martial arts fighters.”

The Arnold Sports Festival is the biggest sport festival in the country with over 18,000 athletes contending in 44 different sport. New sports included in the 2010 edition are skateboarding, amateur strongman, figure skating, amateur mixed martial arts…
