On May 27, 2009, Dawson abandoned the IBF light heavyweight championship belt to negotiate a rematch with Glen Johnson. Dawson, incapable of getting an exception from the IBF championship for his obligatory title defense, resigned from his IBF title in order to get the Johnson replay, which will be for his IBO title.

Frank Mir action figure stands 6-inches tall. He is presented in his green fighting shorts. Frank Mir has persisted over crushing traumas to reach the top of the sport and looks forward to defending his title.

Frank Mir is a UFC legend. He became famous when he broke Tim Sylvia’s right forearm 50 seconds into the first round. Sylvia was taken to the adjacent hospital where an x-ray demonstrated that his arm was broken in four different spots. Mir became the new UFC Heavyweight Champion that night and later received his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belt for his performance in the fight.

Everything was going good for Mir at this time. He was the new heavyweight champion, a nice career was in front of him. That was without the motorbike accident he had right after the fight. He broke his femur and tore all the ligaments in his knee. That was a career ending injury.

Two years later he came back to the UFC octagon, but lost the first fight of his return against Marcio Cruz at UFC 57: Liddell vs. Couture 3. Slowly, he came back to the top being the only one to inflict a defeat to Brock Lesnar in his first fight in the octagon. He went on to TKO Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 and won the interim heavyweight title.

He finally lost the rematch against Brock Lesnar at UFC 100 in the first round at 1:48. He is scheduled to face the French MMA fighter Cheick Kongo at UFC 107.

That’s it! The famous fight is on! Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers will battle at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates on November 7, 2009 in a main event of a Strikeforce event.

Dana White must be crazy! He tried everything he could to get him in the UFC, but co-promotion demands from the Russian camp put an end to the deal. Strikeforce got him and said Amen to every Fedor’s demand. So, it will be the first co-promotion event of Strikeforce with M1 Global.

However, let’s go back to the fight. Brett Rogers, certainly considered by many as a stepping stone for Fedor to get introduced to the US audience, should be considered seriously. I hate MMA math, but Rogers knocked out Andrei Arlovski in 0:22 seconds, a fighter that lasted 3:14 minutes against Emelianenko and looked really good before getting KOed.

I know it doesn’t prove anything and Rogers might not be the guy that put an end to the Russian’s winning streak, but we can certainly hope for a great fight.

The event will air live on CBS live making it the first MMA show on network-television since the now defunct org EliteXC broadcasted its final event, EliteXC: Heat on CBS on October 4, 2008.

The show looks extremely promising. Aside the awaited main event, the extremely singular MMA artist Jason Miller will square off with Jake Shields in a Middleweight Championship fight. Gegard Mousasi, the Babalou sobral recent demolisher will also fight in Light Heavyweight Championship fight, and the recent women’s 145 pound champion Cristiane Santos will defend her title against a fighter to be announced.

Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar was the finale fight of the Ultimate Fighter 1 reality show. That was the most popular TUF show along with the actual airing of TUF 10 due to the presence of Kimbo Slice only.

Forrest Griffin won the fight by unanimous decision, even if the fight was elected by many as being the best MMA fight ever.

Dana White went as far as declaring the bout as “the most important fight in UFC history” ( Some F-bombs are missing making it a real Dana White line) and was declared the #1 UFC fight of all time in the UFC Ultimate 100 program.

The fight was extremely exiting indeed. That victory put Griffin on the map and earned a contract in the UFC for both fighters. Normally only the winner of the finale get a UFC contract.

Sadly, for Bonnar, his career didn’t have the same kind of success. While Griffin went on to win the UFC light heavyweight title against Rampage Jackson, Bonnar competed mostly in the UFC fight night free TV program and got caught juicing at UFC 62: Liddell vs. Sobral after a rematch against Griffin that he lost again. He’s coming out of two consecutive loss against Jon Jones at UFC 94 and Mark Coleman at UFC 100.
